More than 150 elementary and high school kids took part in the robot programming competition
Today, in the Belgrade’s elementary school “Vladislav Ribnikar”, as a part of the campaign Battle for Knowledge, more than 150 elementary and high school pupils from all parts of Serbia took part in the robot programming competition.
In the finals of state competition in mBot programming 30 elementary schools took part, with the teams consisting of 3pupils. First place went to the elementary school “Vuk Karadzic” from Belgrade, second place to elementary school “Petefi Sandor” from Novi Sad, and the third to “Zivomir Savkovic” school from Kovacevac. MBot robots are teaching tools for the pupils in 431 elementary schools throughout Serbia meant to help them learn basics of programming and coding. These robots were donated to schools through the Battle for Knowledge campaign enforced by B92 Fund.
On today’s event, the qualifications for the World Cup in educational robotics also took place. It will be held in China this November. From 17 teams, in the elementary school category, “ticket to Shanghai” was won by the host, the elementary school “”Vladislav Ribnkar”” from Belgrade, and, in the high school category, Serbia will be represented, for the second year in a row by Politehnika – School for new technologies. On the last year World Cup, their team won the Best presentation of the country and work in the robotics Award.
With the support of VIP Mobile Company, today also Little Bits competition finals took place. It was an exhibition of Vip Challenge – robots made by 8 elementary schools, constructed from the sets that were donated to them last year, in the mBot finals and the KODigranje league. Prize for the most creative and functional robot model went to elementary school “Nikolaj Velimirovic” from Sabac, with the model of robot for watering and measuring the humidity of the ground. On Vip Challenge, pupils presented their models of robots such as pinball, rotating lamp, marry-go-round, vacuum cleaner….
Campaign Battle for Knowledge is being supported by dozen socially responsible companies, Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of public Administration, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, and Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
